Sugar Rush: The Rinky Dink and Twink at Betty Bakery
Your daily dose of something sweet.

At Betty Bakery in Boerum Hill, take your pick between a pair of childhood sweets. There's the Rinky Dink ($2), a bakery re-creation of Hostess Ring Dings. Two picture-perfect layers of plush chocolate cake with a filling of marshmallow creme. Perhaps too sugary, but then again, what childhood sweet isn't? The entire "sandwich" is given a dunk in dark chocolate, and a final dusting of cocoa powder. Bite with a gentle crackle though the layer of chocolate and into the depths of soft and sweet happiness.

The set wouldn't be complete without The Twink ($2), which might be better known as a Twinkie. Betty Bakery's vanilla sponge cake is a bit on the oily side, and the filling, a trio of pipes through the cake's underbelly, was a little more slick than I would have enjoyed. Between the two, I'd return for the Rinky Dink, and pass on the Twink.
