In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

I usually shy away from ordering chicken sandwiches, as more often than not, they're dry and unremarkable. But the roasted chicken sandwich ($8.50) at Bluebird Sky, Little Italy's new (and not Italian) cafe, is the solution to my poultry problem.

Bluebird, run by husband and wife Dave and Alex Kelly, boasts a menu of simple, yet palate-pleasing sandwiches and salads. The chicken, which actually tastes more grilled than roasted, gets a flavor kick from pimentos and balsamic. However, the real star of this sandwich is the creamy and tangy goat cheese. That cheese paired with Bluebird's nicely crusty bread would make a fine meal in itself, but it's not like I mind the extra, well-prepared protein.
