Tips and tricks for making the best sandwiches at home.
To continue with the "tacos on the beach theme" that began last week at Rockaway Taco, this week I took another trip to another beach in a another borough: Coney Island. There are a few taco stands off the boardwalk, and I tasted tacos at two of them.
On one end, at Doña Zita Plaza Mexico, I tried four types of tacos: carne enchilada, carnitas, pollo, and chorizo. After, while walking towards the Wonder Wheel I came across a tiny stand, Rainbow Ice Cream and Sandwich, which sells tacos, of course. Although full, I couldn't pass up the chance that they might be amazing, so I got a cecina taco to go. I found a few interesting additions at both places that I don't normally come across in my everyday taco-eating—namely, shredded lettuce and pico de gallo as taco toppings. Whatever the reason, the extra veggies only helped add a fresh feel to my second beach taco excursion. All I can say? Tacos plus sandy feet and the smell of the ocean equals the perfect summer combination.
