At Taralucci e Vino, you can have your sandwich on ciabatta or multigrain bread. For this grilled eggplant, aged ricotta and tomato sandwich ($10), I thought a hearty ciabatta might stand up well. Indeed, the bread was great—crunchy on the outside but not hard to bite through, with an airy, fluffy interior that sopped up some flavor from the fillings. The eggplant could have been a bit more seasoned for my taste, but was well-cooked and not oily (a common problem with grilled eggplant). And the aged ricotta, or ricotta salata, had been salted and dried, then very thinly sliced. A solid sandwich, and pretty generously portioned.
