This cup of Espresso Mousse ($7.50) always seems to beckon from the glass windows of Black Hound on 2nd Avenue. It stands out because it is one of the few non-cake creations the bakery displays out front, the only one not perfectly round and organized. The Mousse starts with a silky dark chocolate cup base, thin and crackly when cool. Remove the words "cafe" jotted in chocolate and spoon up that mousse. Utterly light in both texture and flavor, more like an espresso-scented whipped cream than an actual mousse. It's not aggressive nor rich, but has a feather-light texture and ease on the tongue.
