Just in time for National Doughnut Day, Locanda Verde in Tribeca has a new baked good—Blueberry Cake Doughnuts! They're $2 apiece, certainly on the high end for doughnuts, but as with all of Karen DeMasco's sweets, they're excellent. There's a crisp glaze of deep blueberry icing over the surface of the doughnut, fried a deep golden brown, with a crunchy surface, super moist with a crumbly interior. Though the doughnuts aren't served warm, they're very fresh with not the slightest bit of grease.
