In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.
We've looked far and wide for great tomato mozzarella sandwiches, but we're still pretty content with the tomato, mozzarella, and basil panino ($9) at Doma in the West Village. As Robyn Lee describes it:
"Lightly melted layers of sweet and creamy mozzarella from Joe's Dairy in Soho topped with fragrant basil leaves and tomato slices are sandwiched in between the most awesome toasted ciabatta from Balthazar--the bread features a delicate, crunchy crust that shatters into soft, slightly chewy innards. It's still my favorite tomato, mozzarella, and basil sandwich."
