For when you are in the West Village, craving banana pudding, but do not wish to brave the ridiculously long and unjustified lines at Magnolia Bakery—head to nearby Out of the Kitchen on Hudson Street for a cup of their house banana pudding ($4.25). Serving size is noticeably smaller than Magnolia's banana pudding ($4.50), but the pudding, thankfully, is far less sweet. It's lighter, fluffier in texture, with a stronger, more genuine vanilla element. Real pudding, as opposed to the too-often-encountered out of the box version. The dessert is compact and organized in a tall glass: pudding, thinly sliced bananas, Nilla wafers, repeat.
