October 30th - November 1st, 2009 If trick-or-treating doesn't satiate your sweet tooth, head on over to The Chocolate Show to taste chocolates from all over the world, watch live demos, and participate in chocolate-filled activities. $28.00 per ticket. Wine, Spirits, and Candy Tasting
Saturday, October 31st, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Get the spookiest (and most sugary) day of the year started early! This Saturday, throw on your costume and head over to Bottlerocket, a wine shop with a unique and fun approach to wine education. Bring the whole family for a tasting of five different delicious candies and several adult Halloween wines and spirits. Free admission. 5 West 19th Street at 5th Avenue.

Food Talks
Sunday, November 1st, 2009, 7:30 PM Two restaurant insiders, Frank Bruni and Mike Colameco, discuss what a New York City eatery needs to be successful today. Bruni, who recently released the book Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater, was the restaurant critic for The New York Times until August 2009, and currently reports for The New York Times Magazine. Colameco is the host of WOR's Food Talk and the author of the new book, Mike Colameco's Food Lover's Guide to New York City. $27.00 per person. New York Magazine hosts the 11th annual New York Taste event where you can sample food and wine from 40 different top restaurants and wineries to benefit City Harvest. This year's featured chefs include Alain Allegretti, Dan Barber, Andrew Carmellini of Locanda Verde, Audrey Saunders of Pegu Club, Morimoto, Michael White of Marea, Zak Pelaccio, and many more. $175.00 for general admission. Cocktail Tweetup Chartreuse and LUPEC
Monday, November 2nd, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Join the members of LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) for an evening dedicated to the preservation of the times of old. Chartruese, made for over 900 years by Carthusian monks, pungent with the flavors of over 130 plants, is a sweet and spicy liquor that will certainly become a staple in your wet bar. The evening will include Chartreuse tastings and Chartreuse inspired cocktails hosted by "Classy Broads" of today who know how to throw down in vintage style and flavor. $35.00 per ticket (includes two drinks). The Tenement Museum
Wednesday, November 4th, 6:30 PM William Grimes, author of Appetite City and former New York Times restaurant critic, gives a one-time-only tour of the New York City restaurant scene in the late 1800's. A guided tour will reveal an era when chophouses and oyster saloons were all the rage and dining out was supposed to be quick and simple. Free tour. 108 Orchard Street; event website
