The Village Pourhouse NYC Brew Fest
Sunday, July 19, 1 p.m. The first annual NYC Brew Fest will debut the Pourhouse's Beer Pops (pictured above). The alcoholic pops are made from Abita Strawberry beer infused with strawberry preserves, and then dipped in chocolate. The pops will cost you $3 during the event and be on the regular menu ($4) starting July 20. If the icy, chocolate-beer combo is too much for you, there will be plenty of regular beer to drink along with giveaways and games. Your sundae will be created from Van Leeuwen ice cream topped with Knipschildt's dessert sauces and house-whipped cream from Hail's Family Farm. Local Grill-Off & Beer Bash at LIC Water Taxi Beach
Tuesday, July 21, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Locavores and beer lovers unite! Get together at the Long Island City Water Taxi Beach to grill and drink the night away. Mayor Bloomberg has declared July "Good Beer Month" (isn't that every month?), so the bash will naturally showcase selections from Brooklyn Brewery and Six Point Craft Ales. The grilling side of the event includes an amateur chef "Grill-Off" featuring meat raised on regional farms. Restaurants such as Fette Sau, Gusto, RUB BBQ, Fatty Cue, and Jimmy's No. 43 will be serving food as well. This event is part of a series hosted by Jimmy Carbone (Jimmy's 43, 1 Dominick).
