Earlier this week, it was Cupcake Cook-off time and as profiled in the New York Times this week, there are many other culinary competitions in Brooklyn all year long (the cupcake gets replaced with ramen, bacon, tofu, risotto, and apple pie, to name a few).
Two icons in this cook-off scene Theo Peck and Nick Suarez are hosting their own, the first Brooklyn Beer Experiment on Sunday, June 7, at the Bell House. Yes, it's just like all the others, but with beer. There will be two categories: one for beer-infused dishes (prepared by over 25 contestants) and another just for Brooklyn home-brewed beers. Sign-up if you want to briiiing it.
Judges include Justin Philips, owner of Beer Table in Park Slope, and as with all the other cook-offs, the audience. Woo, cook-off democracy. Tickets are $18, which includes a Smuttynose beer and gobs of samples from all the entries. Buy tickets here.
