Who else would combine bun and pie besides Momofuku Milk Bar? My initial reaction to their cinnamon bun pie was, "WHOA, BEST IDEA EVER!" Instead of a typical pie crust there's sweet, bready bun, which is topped with gooey cinnamon and brown butter-flavored cream cheese filling and oat crumble. Unfortunately, it didn't convince me that buns are better in pie form; I found the bun crust a bit too tough considering that pie crusts tend to be of the flaky, tender sort. It's certainly not bad—anything that's warm and has bun components is bound to taste good—but I'd stick to the regular buns.
