At first, this didn't seem real. An ice cream truck with a communist propaganda artistic approach. But the Tactical Ice Cream Unit (or TICU) actually does rove around the country—they made stops in Kansas City in 2005 and Los Angeles in 2006—to distribute ice cream and intel on "un-American" activities like corporate dumping and police brutality. A collective called the Center for Tactical Magic transformed this truck into a surveillance unit with 12 cameras, GPS, satellite internet, and most importantly, freezers for ice cream.
The truck will give out free cones and tours of the high-tech control center at the Willink Entrance of Prospect Park (where Ocean Avenue, Flatbush Avenue, and Empire Blvd meet) from noon to 6 p.m. this Saturday. [via Brooklyn Based]
