Poll: Do You Eat Ice Cream In The Cold?

At Serious Eats, we love ice cream no matter the season—but yikes, it's gotten cold in New York lately, cold enough to have even us rethink ice cream. While we really do enjoy the cold stuff throughout the year, it's a little hard to imagine walking down the street with an ice cream cone right now. (Even though it sure wouldn't freeze!) Poll: How Picky Are You About Coffee?

Some people eat for pleasure; some just to stave off hunger until their next meal. (Presumably, at this site, we have more of the former than the latter.) But what about coffee? While cities across the nation are seeing more and more serious coffee bars, many people are still content with their Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, or office coffee. What about you? Poll: Four Loko, Ban or Don't Ban?

Earlier this week, the New York Daily News announced that the State Liquor Authority had hammered out an agreement with major beer distributors to stop shipping Four Loko as of November 19th. Why the move to stop selling? Sold in a number of sweet, fruity flavors, each 23.5-ounce can of the drink, 12.0% ABV, has as much alcohol as a six-pack of beer, and a huge hit of caffeine, besides. Should it be banned? Take the poll» More

Poll: What Do You Think of the Michelin Stars?

The Michelin Guide is most famous for awarding the Michelin Stars, designations of fine dining. Even a single Michelin star is considered a profound honor, while two or three are said to indicate the best restaurants in the world. That said, it's often said that the Michelin inspectors aren't the best arbiters of cuisine: they have a distinctly French bias, they don't necessarily understand the dining culture of the cities they're in, or they tend to take the trappings of service and decor more seriously than the food. Poll: Do You Like Rotating Menus?

This week, New York Magazine reviews Roman's, a Fort Greene restaurant with a nightly rotating menu that we liked, with some reservations, back in 2009. The reviewers loved the notion of a menu that turns over completely every night, whereas we had some reservations. The idea of a totally rotating menu is one that appeals to some, but not to others.
