From marshmallow apples oozing liquid caramel to decadent red velvet cakes and whisper light coconut cakes to gigantic, golden honey toast, desserts in this city seem to only get better and even more delicious with each passing year. The classic Lady M Mille Crêpes is perfect, but when you want a twist on the original, keep your eye out for variations on the cake. This green tea version is my new favorite.
Lady M's Mille Crêpes are about as iconic as cakes get, but with the opening of their new location inside The Plaza Food Hall, they've introduced the Chocolate-Banana Mille Crêpe.
A slice of Red Velvet is perhaps the richest and most indulgent of the Lady M cakes.
It's that time of the year again: pumpkin season. We're seeing it in sweets around the city, from pumpkin whoopie pies filled with cream cheese frosting to pumpkin gelato and pumpkin ice cream; pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin cupcakes and layered pumpkin brownies.
It shines with a cover of sweet blueberries, raspberries, and even blackberries, all neatly shielding fresh pastry cream and a base of nutty frangipane. But you'll find some excellent ones in these New York bakeries, along with tarts and caneles and palmiers and much more.
Mont Blanc generally has three elements: whipped cream, chestnut puree and and meringue. Lady M's version of the Mont Blanc ($9) omits the meringue, something which would ordinarily be unforgivable, but can be overlooked here simply because of the abundance of chestnut puree, an element most places are stingy with.
Lady M is most famous for their Mille Crêpes, though other cakes offered at this too-chic-for-words Upper East Side boutique deserve just as much attention.
[Photo: Kathy YL Chan] We've got two takes on Matcha Cakes for you today. The first is by Lady M on the Upper East Side, though you can also find this cake at the Soho Dean & Deluca's. Lady...
Mille crepes is doubtlessly the first thought that pops into mind upon hearing the name Lady M, the confectionery on the Upper East Side. Dreams of airy thin crepes stacked upon each other, separated only by brushes of custard...
