After six years of writing about a sweet a day in New York, it's time for me to say farewell to the Sugar Rush beat. Looking back are the journey, here are ten of the sweets I'll never forget.

While its status as a safe haven for creative and alternative lifestyles is on the wane, the neighborhood remains one of the best areas on the island for the nocturnally hungry to snag a midnight snack.

Most gelaterias and ice cream shops in town have "flavors of the month." September this year just happens to be a exceptionally great month flavor-wise. But you only have until this Friday to try them all. So get to it!
Summer is here to stay, and while you may be tempted to huddle inside in the air conditioning, it's worth stepping out into the city for one of these frozen treats. Ice cream, gelato, soft-serve; it's hard to say which we like more. So we rounded up our favorite scoops, swirls, and (ice cream) sandwiches in New York City: some old friends, and some new favorites.
Here's the panna cotta, one of their richer and heavier flavors, and perfectly smooth. It's lightly swirled with a somewhat nutty caramel turning the gelato a beautiful pale, off-white shade.
We've got a tartufo with silky hot fudge, my favorite blueberry tart in the city, a tiramisu to die for, and an equally divine chocolate eclair—as well as a soft-serve stuffed eclair in the East Village.
