The Gluten-free Chocolate Cookie ($2.50) from Foragers City Grocer is definitely worth investigating if you're in need of a sweet fix but are avoiding gluten.
Crisp on the outside and soft within, the cookie bends without breaking as a chewy cookie might. The chocolate flavor, which seems to come solely from cocoa powder, is mild but satisfying, and it makes for a light cookie rather than a dense chocolate bomb.
Sometimes that's just the kind of cookie you want: one without chocolate chips or chunks to weigh it down. No gluten? Now that's an added bonus, and it comes in a cookie tasty enough that gluten eaters can enjoy it as well.
