Belgian Perfection: O Merveilleux's Coffee Choux Pastry

Let's face it, sometimes you don't want the newest, fanciest, most tricked out pastry New York has to offer. Maybe, despite their collective awesomeness, you've tired of all the Cronut knockoffs. If you're suffering from fancy pastry fatigue, head over to O Merveilleux on the Upper East Side for their superb Coffee Choux ($3.00).

The first thing you notice when biting in is the delicate brown sugar sablé crust that brings a pleasant crunch. The eggy choux underneath is crisp and perfectly uniform. Inside you'll find a hollow cavity filled with a coffee-jolted pastry cream, neither too thick nor too thin, and not too sweet either.
