This past Friday, Viva La Comida, the Elmhurst 82nd Street Partnership's food festival, celebrated its second year with even more street food, music, and fun.
The festival kicked off at 4 p.m. with trucks and carts from all over the city serving arepas, tacos, tortas, and more. As the sun set, the crowds started to form and lines emerged for the festival's most popular vendors, as long as an hour and a half for the sainted arepa lady.
Other highlights: massive tortas, steamed tacos for a dollar a pop, and Vendy award-winning pupusas from Red Hook.
With speakers blasting upbeat tunes, dancing and face painting on the main stage, and great food, Viva La Comida was a wild success for attendees and vendors alike. We're already looking forward to the next one.
