After a wildly successful first year, Queens's Viva La Comida, the 82nd Street Partnership's food festival with some of the best cheap eats from Queens and beyond, is coming back this Friday to Jackson Heights from 4 to 10 p.m.

This year's vendor lineup is full of Serious Eats Queens favorites, like the massive sandwiches at Tortas Neza and the saintly Arepa Lady, as well as several from beyond Queens borders: Vendy finalist Chipper Truck, Peruvian cart Morocho, roast pork master La Pirana, and more. Local brick and mortar favorites like Taqueria Coatzingo, Casa Rivera, and more will be getting in on the fun as well with outdoor seating and views of the festival. One corner of the day will also include an interactive art fair, with live music and dancing as well.

Unlike other food events with high entry fees, Viva La Comida is free to enter with individual items served a la carte (err...cart). But the organizers are offering a highly limited number of VIP tours ($100 for five tickets) of the chefs and carts at the event, which guarantee the chance to try a wide range of food while meeting the cooks behind the flattop.

In the meantime, the 82nd Street Partnership is giving away a gift certificate good for $82 at Taqueria Coatzingo, one of the restaurants participating at the festival and home to some of our favorite Mexican food in Queens. To enter the giveaway, tell us: what's your favorite taco filling? We'll select a winner at random on Wednesday, September 18th at noon. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.
