So far we've visited and revisited Breads Bakery mainly for its sweets. And they're all pretty damn good.

But Breads also has a line of savory items: bread, of course, sandwiches, soups, salads, and these little Market Bites, $4 to $5 apiece, built on slender lengths of cheese bread poofy like Olive Garden's but with a cheese straw backbone.

This avocado edition ($4) is likely the most filling: a Gouda cheese bread base topped with lush, loose cream cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and curls of cilantro. It's somewhere between a salad and a sandwich, with layers of tangy and nutty cheeses, beautifully ripe avocado, and juicy-to-bursting tomatoes. You may have seen this salad combination before, but perhaps not with this much attention paid to the constituent ingredients.

It's not that filling of a snack, but it's substantial enough to keep you going, and darn well-made to boot.
