CITY GRIT's getting a new home!

Sarah Simmons' culinary salon, CITY GRIT, is losing its current home on Prince Street and is seeking to raise $100,000 on Kickstarter for a lease and deposit on a new and improved location. If you donate, you can receive a variety of perks, including Sarah's fried chicken recipe and spice blend ($50), invitations to the new location's opening party tentatively scheduled for May 7, 2014 ($250 for one person, $400 for two), and Thursday night dinner memberships ($1,000, six months for one person, three months for two). Summer Cocktail Making Class at The Brooklyn Kitchen

Come learn about summer cocktails with Tom Macy, head bartender at the Clover Club in Carroll Gardens, this Friday night. Students will gain a greater understanding of the history, evolution and relationships between summer cocktails as they make their way through 10 (or more) tall drinks throughout the evening. $75. 100 Frost Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; tickets and information.

National Waffle Day at Wafels & Dinges

Saturday is National Waffle Day, and food truck mainstay Wafels & Dinges is officially opening its first brick and mortar location. To celebrate, visitors who bring "Wafel Cart Art" to any truck or the Alphabet City Café throughout the day will receive a free waffle. At 3:00 p.m., the Café will host the 4th annual Miss Wafel and Mister Wafel Pageant. Winners will receive a Belgian Wafel Passport (good for one year of free wafels), and must perform their duties as "Wafel Ambassador" for one year. The Hog Days of Summer at Arrogant Swine

Hog Days of Summer is still going on, and this weekend, it's at Arrogant Swine in Greenpoint. Enjoy traditional North Carolina whole hog smoked barbecue, all you can drink craft beer and live bluegrass. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Just Food NYC. Harvest East End at McCall Vineyard

Celebrate 40 years of Long Island winemaking this Saturday at Harvest East End at the North Fork's McCall Vineyard & Ranch. Enjoy a wide variety of local wines and dishes from regional chefs, including barrel samples of not yet released wines. Feature Dinner with J. Bridger at Maiden Lane

Brooklyn Battle at Donna Cocktail Club

Williamsburg's Donna Cocktail Club is hosting Brooklyn Battle, a series of Monday night cocktail duels between Donna bartenders and bartenders from nearby establishments, each featuring a different sponsored liquor. This week: Donna's Matt Belanger vs. Beloved's Jordan Schwartz in a battle over Denizen Rum. Crab-a-palooza at Back Forty

Back Forty has hosted Tuesday night crab boils all summer, and is closing out the summer with Crab-a-palooza, a series of crab events for the last week of August. They're mixing up the featured crab all week, with a Wednesday and Friday night spin on a Vietnamese Gulf-style crab boil, and a Chesapeake-style boil for Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday afternoon. $45. 190 Avenue B; tickets and information.
Lobster Maine-ia at Back Forty West
