In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

Longtime readers of this series may know about Certé's always creative, usually very tasty monthly sandwiches; see their lamb hot pocket or lobster French toast. Like its predecessors, this sandwich throws together components in ways you may not have expected.

The aptly named Montauk Hangover ($8.95) is as decadent as sandwiches come. Piled onto a grilled potato roll are a fried duck egg, creamed corn with pancetta, a spicy lobster sauce, and crispy fried leeks. The result is, in a nutshell, staggeringly rich, and thanks to the creamed corn and potato roll, very sweet. That said, the accompanying pancetta is nicely crisp and salty, and the large duck egg is well fried with a core of molten yolk that seeps all over. Not an everyday sandwich, but great for a nasty hangover or a day of reckless indulgence.

A word of warning: it is very messy to eat, so be sure to have a lot of napkins on hand.
