Sugar Rush: Flourless Triple Chocolate Cookie from Sullivan Street Bakery
The sign next to these cookies in Sullivan Street Bakery reads "Colpa Degno," and below that, flourless triple chocolate cookie. Colpa Degno apparently means "blame worthy" in Italian. Who's to blame here for these great cookies?
At $4 and average-to-medium in size, this is a pricy cookie. For comparison, a double chocolate cookie from Levain costs the same and is more than twice the weight of one of these. But for the serious cookie connoisseur and chocolate lover, dare I say it's worth it.
This shiny, chewy cookie delivers a unique deep, dark chocolate flavor. Without any flour getting the way, it's all chocolate. If you're looking for crunchy cookies, look elsewhere. There's a bit of sea salt for texture and bite, but it's rather soft. It reminds me a bit of Payard's fourless chocolate walnut cookie, minus the nuts.
