This year's Lucky Rice festival is coming up soon, and tickets are going fast. The week-long event highlights Asian culture through a food-and-drink-stained lens, starting April 29th with an already sold out dumpling party hosted by James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Christina Tosi, and Danny Bowien.

On May 2nd, Iron Chef Morimoto is hosting the festival's cocktail feast. Bombay Sapphire is sponsoring the event as chefs and bartenders gather to serve a wealth of gin-based drinks inspired by Asian ingredients.

Andy Ricker's Whiskey Soda Lounge is featuring two drinks for Cocktail Feast: a Sapphire Fizz (pictured above) and a Scotch-based cocktail inspired by Sam Ross' Penicillin. The Fizz mixes gin with pomegranate drinking vinegar, lemon, and soda. "We use coconut or palm vinegar to make the drinking vinegars," Ricker explains, "they have a sweet, natural flavor which I like a lot."

Nicolas de Soto's Penang Milk Punch will be served in individual tincture bottles

Nicolas de Soto of Experimental Cocktail Club will be serving a clarified milk-based cocktail called Penang Milk Punch and a Koh Tao, a frozen drink inspired by Thailand's mango sticky rice dessert. Clarifying the milk for the punch is a three-day process. After pineapple, green tea, lemon, coconut water, and ten different spices steep for a day, the mixture is strained, and the process is repeated several times. To finish the drink, de Soto adds gin and rum. "You need to balance everything," de Soto says, "but I put in the Plantation Trinidad Rum to give it a little kick."
