The best doughnuts are the ones fresh from the fryer. At Terroir they come in the form of Apple Cider Doughnut Holes ($5). These single bite cake doughnuts are drenched with a slow oozing cider caramel. Hot with a crunchy exterior and moist all the way through. Terroir's sister restaurant, Hearth offers an even more decadent take on these doughnuts. If you're at the East Village location of Terrior, have a glass of wine and doughnuts, and then walk next door to Hearth for dinner at the bar and more doughnuts! Can't go wrong.
And don't forget about the olive oil cake ($6). We first mentioned this cake way back in February 2009. It no longer comes with riesling poached pears, but instead, golden caramelized pears. You still get two wedges of the bundt cake, the savory olive oil balanced with a dose of sweet, almost as if the cake was kissed with simple syrup.
