Dean & Deluca recently took a bulk of their bakery production in-house (though you can still get goodies from places like Lady M, Balthazar, and Amy's Bread). The house sweets are hit and miss, but stay close to slices of custardy cherry clafoutis ($5), white chocolate cookies, and cupcakes, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. A Banana Nutella Cupcake ($3) features a banana cake base that's more akin to a hearty slice of dense and moist banana bread than fluffy cupcake. That's a good thing. It's topped with smooth whipped Nutella buttercream and toasted hazelnuts. A classic combo, so easy to love.
