Serious Eats: New York
Sugar Rush: Tea Sweets at the Mandarin Oriental
Afternoon tea at the Mandarin Oriental made our list of the best afternoon teas in NYC. But did you know they also create seasonal afternoon teas? Currently on the menu is the Togetherness Tea (available until February 15th) in celebration of the Lunar New Year. Classic tea sandwiches are replaced with Asian treats—think prawn and shitake dumplings and petite peking duck buns. And instead of lemon curd tarts and pecan bars, you're presented with miniature bites like almond cookie shortbreads, warm sesame-dotted jin dui with a red bean filling, and coconut jelly atop vanilla sponge cake. My favorite of the set? That crisp tart shell filled with creme brûlée and caramelized pineapples!
