I'm a fan of the danishes at Bien Cuit. First there was the Yeti—a pastry made with danish dough and topped with whipped mascarpone (plus some aleppo pepper for heat) and cacao nibs. Now there is the Apple Cardamom Danish ($4) featuring the same flaky dough, bold and rich with butter. It's outfitted with puréed apples and a crumbly, fragrant cardamom streusel. If you have room for another, they're also baking Maple Yam Danishes—think sweet yams accented with maple syrup and crème fraîche.
