A Sandwich a Day: Meatball Parm Hero at Rocket Joe's

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

There's something to be said for quantity. And when $5 buys a you a footlong sandwich loaded with cheese and saucy meatballs, quantity counts. The Meatball Parm Hero ($5) at Rocket Joe's may not be destination-worthy, but it beats the pants off their slices, and it's plenty satisfying in its own right. The sauce is sweet and zesty, the cheese stretchy and well melted, the bread given a solid toasting. Half a sandwich is a loaded lunch for one; a whole one makes an excellent hangover helper.
