What do you order at the East Village's sandwich shop after your Conflicted Jew? We were drawn to the The Almighty Brisket ($10), and feel good about it, but with some caveats.

The brisket itself in this brioche bun sandwich is a little dry, sacrificing juicy meat for crisp edges. But it corrects for this problem with the addition of cheddar and horseradish mayo, which are appropriately fatty and rich for a sandwich of this size. But to really overcome the meat's slight dryness we'd want more of those spreads. The flavors were all there; they were just applied with too deft a hand. The person in line after me seemed aware of this and modified his order accordingly, asking, "Can I have extra horseradish mayo?" Smart move.
