Wow was the first word that came to mind when the Golden Toast ($8.75) arrived at our table. We've seen variations of this dessert from places such as Saint's Alp, Cha An, and Cafe Zaiya. But this one tops them all. The key is in the bread, a plush white loaf that you find only in Asian bakeries. It's softer and sweeter than American white bread, the perfect vehicle for this dessert.

Here the bread is cut, buttered to bliss, and baked until the top is golden. It's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, but buttery throughout. In the traditional version, the toast is finished with drizzles of condensed milk. At Spot, they replace the drizzle with a ball of condensed milk ice cream and honey. The best way to devour this is to rip off a buttered toast hunk, spoon on the ice cream, slather on the whipped cream and finish with a strawberry.
