A Sandwich a Day: Bougie Bird at Little Fox Cafe

In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

The newly opened Little Fox Cafe is a place to spend the first half of your day. There's coffee and espresso to start, and pastries to nosh on, and come lunchtime, homey sandwiches made to order with grain toast on a panini press. These aren't groundbreaking sandwiches, but they're pretty solid concepts. Their Bougie Bird ($8) will satisfy stomach pangs even if you don't call home about it. Some basic sliced turkey, a bit of brie, some greens, and fig jam live between toast with a satisfactory gooey-to-crunchy ratio. The fig jam was spread on a bit thick (though it brightens up the sandwich well), and we could have used some more greens, but overall a solid lunch item.
