Matcha affogato sundaes ($7) are available at the new Cocoron on Kenmare Street. It's a busy dessert, but it works. A shot of chilled green tea is presented in a small dish for you to pour at will. The sundae glass is filled high with cornflakes, two scoops of house-made matcha ice cream, a trio of fresh mochi balls and azuki beans. Pour the tea over the sundae and let the cornflakes soak it all up (the idea of topping breakfast cereal with green tea instead of milk crossed my mind more than once while eating this sundae). I like everything mixed together, the chewy mochi balancing the creamy, mashed azuki beans, the toasty notes of crushed soba-cha (roasted buckwheat) accenting the simultaneously sweet and bitter flavors of matcha.
