Slideshow SLIDESHOW: The Cheapskate's Guide to Chinatown, NYC: 13 Snacks for $2 and Under

Damn, do I love Chinatown. It's hard to sum up all the reasons why, but here's an obvious start: it's home to some of the cheapest, tastiest food in the city. And I mean really cheap. As in six-dollars-is-a-meal cheap.

But sometimes six bucks looks pretty rich. I know I'm not the only person to ever exit the Canal Street subway station with a growling belly and just a handful of quarters in my wallet. But that's okay. When cheap just isn't cheap enough, Chinatown is there for you. To help guide you through the neighborhood's labyrinthine food options, here's a list of sweet and savory snacks to fill the belly and warm the soul for $2 or less. I'm including some honorable mentions—$2.25-or-so snacks that also fit the bill, if you're willing to spend the extra change.

This list is just the tip of the iceberg—Chinatown is like that—and we're far from done eating our way through the neighborhood's cheapest eats. So: any specialties we missed? Let us know in the comments.
