And We're Back!

As this post goes live, we'll be opening up our New York office in Chinatown for the first time in a week.* We can't thank you all enough for your kindness and support as we've tried to get things back on track, and we can't wait to share more great content with you—and, of course, photos of dogs.

That said, it's painfully clear how not back to normal things are yet. Though power is back in most of Manhattan, and this weekend saw the triumphant return of eating out downtown, food businesses are still reeling from losses and areas all along the East Coast are still hurting. Our thoughts are with everyone who's making their way through the aftermath of this storm, and we once again want to give our thanks to every government employee, volunteer, and emergency responder working tirelessly to make things better, wherever they are.

Members of the food industry have shown heroic resolve in fighting back, both by cooking in the dark to keep neighbors fed and by donating time, money, and manpower to relief for victims. We've been able to tell some of their stories, but in the days to come we'll be covering more of them, and writing about additional ways that serious eaters can help those hardest hit and in need of aid. The worst of the storm may be over, but its aftermath isn't, and there's a lot that remains to be done.

If you don't have the time or ability to donate supplies or volunteer (and even if you do), one of the easiest ways you can help is to support businesses that suffered closures and significant losses over the week. That means eating out and tipping big, the most delicious form of public service out there right now.

We hope you're all safe and sound today. Last week was a hard one: here's looking to making things better.
