In this great city of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around New York. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

The black and white cookies are the thing at Nussbaum & Wu, but if you need something savory while you're there, the hot sandwich specials board offers some cleverly assembled lunches for $7.95 with a small cup of soup. Number 4 stacks thinly sliced corned beef on a soft roll with thick chunks of avocado, melty cheddar, and a thin spread of creamy, mild chipotle sauce. The corned beef has some bite to it and enough salt to season the avocado well. Cheddar and chipotle both play to the mild side, but you'll be pleased by the soft-salty-sweet tune of this sandwich, simple though it is.
