A few things to note at Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria. First, they offer bomboloni now! They're $2 each and you can find them at the pastry counter alongside fruit foccacia and olive oil cake. They're slightly smaller than tennis balls, yeasty and plush, the exterior fried golden and rolled in sugar.

You'll notice there's no filling, no jams or custards. And there's no need—they're pure and just perfect as is. While you're there, check out the gelato case. Flavors are changed weekly, so you might as well stop in once a week, at the very least. On yesterday's visit we had the Concord Grape Sorbet, a must this time of the year. And the velvety Honey-Yogurt, a tart yogurt gelato sweetened with whips of honey and complete with toasted pine nuts in each spoonful.
