In season now: peppers, eggplant, last of the tomatoes and stone fruit, beans, potatoes, fresh herbs, new apples and pears, and plenty more.
In season soon: More winter squash, more root vegetables, more broccoli and brussels sprouts and other members of the brassicae family. Winter is coming.

It's clearly fall at the Greenmarket. Winter squash, apples, and the family brassicae begin their approach over all the late summer produce that's hanging on for dear life. Click through the slideshow for a closer look.

The Union Square Greenmarket is open on the North and West sides of Union Square Park every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
