The Flatiron's Sala One Nine is known for its Spanish Tapas, but it has some enticing hot and cold Bocadillos (sandwiches) as well. We recently tried their Tortilla Española ($9), which is a traditional Spanish omelet made with pan-fried potatoes and onions.
Sala's version was served cold with a strip of roasted green pepper on top to offset the mild filing. You could call it bland, but it's at least well cooked: tender and soft, not browned or overcooked at all. The omelet is fluffy, but dense enough to keep everything in its place. Encased in a chewy and crusty baguette, this is a filling option for those seeking a straight-forward lunch.
