A Sandwich a Day: Duck Ham at Terroir

Although I have enjoyed many of the dishes on Terroir East Village's menu, I find myself returning to their Duck Ham Sandwich ($11) time and time again. It's duck breast cured with orange zest, coriander, and thyme to make a very ham-like piece of charcuterie. And it's even better on panini-pressed ciabatta with oozy Taleggio cheese and pan-roasted Hen of the Woods mushrooms.
This sandwich has a wonderful balance of textures and flavors: a tender cured duck breast that is both savory and sweet, a salty-crisp mushroom, and cheese that is creamy and awesomely funky.
Of course, you're eating this at Terroir, so you should have some wine to go with your sandwich. I like a glass of Chinon from the Loire Valley with mine.
You can catch this sandwich at the Tribeca and Murray Hill locations as well, with slight variations in the cheese and mushroom.
