It's easy to talk about eating local food, but harder to put it into practice. Hey, a few months from now us New Yorkers will be digging deep into the wells of apples, cabbage, potatoes, kale...and more potatoes that our Winter harvest has to offer, and that can feel a little bleak.

What is easy, though, is waltzing into Let Us Eat Local, slurping down some Blue Hill specialty cocktails, tasting bites from over 50 New York bars and restaurants, and downing pies with local ingredients in a contest judged by, among others, our own Ed Levine.

We're giving away two VIP tickets to the event, which benefits Just Food, a non-profit dedicated to bringing locally grown food to New Yorkers everywhere through resources for farmers, CSAs, and individual eaters. Those tickets will get you four hours of all the food and drink you can take down, including Grammercy Tavern's cheese pumpkin with black garlic and Northern Spy Food Co.'s chorizo-style eggplant. What's more: a pie contest will pit Bubby's bakery, First Prize Pies, Pie Corps, and Pie Country against each other to see who can bake off the best pie with local ingredients—and you'll get to taste them all.
