Sugar Rush: Sesame-Banana Cake at City Bakery

Sugar Rush

Your daily dose of something sweet.

Some might deem the vegan Sesame Banana Cake ($4) at City Bakery too healthy or wholesome, but that's exactly why I love it. The tall rounds are hearty and tender, packed with slices of dried bananas, and could easily double as a meal. Sesame seeds are offered in abundance, each bite simultaneously crumbly and moist, sweetened with agave. And while you're there, don't forget about Peanut Butter Cookies. At $.75 apiece, they're the best deal at City Bakery. Tidy, intense little mounds, purposely under-baked and literally melt-in-your-mouth.
