Sugar Rush: Black Sesame Loaf at Abraço

Sugar Rush

Your daily dose of something sweet.

For the mornings when an ordinary slice of pound cake won't do, meet the Black Sesame Loaf ($3.50) from Abraço. It's simultaneously dense and delicate, the toasty, warm aroma of black sesame accented with almonds. The seeds are ground and folded into the batter, turning the entire loaf a charcoal grey shade, the edges a nutty brown.

They used to bake this cake with fresh pears (which is even more amazing), but plain and simple is just as good, especially when you have a cortado on the side. Pick up an slice of olive oil cake for tomorrow, and if you spot the Cardamom Coffee Cake, a wedge of that as well!
