Grapes, when grown in season, taste about a thousand times more vibrant and sweet than anything you'll get at the grocery store. It can't really be described, but between now and the end of November, you can taste for yourself.

Bag of Greens, Paffenroth Gardens
Bag of Greens, Paffenroth Gardens

Generally, tender baby greens like the ones here are priced by the quarter pound to lessen the sticker shock. Not so in this case: three bucks gets you a whole pound of baby greens, and they're pre rinsed to boot. Some soot still clung to a few of the leaves in the bag I brought home, but the value was still too much to argue with.

Chive Flowers, Paffenroth Gardens

The flowers on the tops of these chives make a beautiful garnish on salads or just about any other type of dish, for that matter. Paffenroth was also selling onion chives and garlic chives, among other fresh herbs.
