Quick, before the season is over! There's an open-faced heirloom tomato sandwich with your name on it at The Dutch. The $16 price tag is not cheap, but the portion is generous and it comes with a large side of marinated radishes and cucumbers for a fresh, seasonal meal. Buttered and grilled slices of bread are slathered with house-made toasted pine nut hummus spilling over the edges.
It's warm and creamy with a nutty finish, perfect for catching the mountain of tomatoes. I counted four different tomatoes on the sandwich, including tiny red heirlooms and monster-sized green ones, all simply sliced and piled on top. It's finished with a thin shave of cucumber and grated Parmesan cheese. A fork and knife sandwich for sure.
