The 8th Annual Vendy Awards are almost here, landing on Governor's Island on September 15th for a day of celebrating New York's street vendors—and stuffing ourselves silly on some of the best street food the city has to offer.

The six finalists for the Vendy Cup (which last year went to Solber Pupusas) has just been announced:

  • Tortas Neza
  • Uncle Gussy's
  • The Cinnamon Snail
  • Hamza and Madina Halal Food
  • Piaztlan Authentic Mexican Food
  • Xin Jiang Prosperity Kababs

You can read more about the finalists on the Vendys website, but all week we'll be posting videos about each of the finalists made by our buddy Liza de Guia of Food Curated. First up: vegan food truck Cinnamon Snail and Red Hook vendor Piaztlan Authentic Mexican Food!

You can buy tickets for the Vendys here. General admission is $95 and Early Entry VIP tickets (which get you in an hour before the crowd with opportunities to hang with our own Ed Levine, as well as this year's judges, including Zach Brooks and Kate Krader) are $145. The VIP tickets also include a cooking demo from Blondie & Brownie (you've seen Alexandra 'Brownie' Penfold on SE Sweets), and a chance to become this year's citizen judge. The Vendys expects to sell out of all their tickets, so if you're planning to go, buy them early!

Here are our snapshots from last year.
