Looks do not deceive. This is indeed, "Earthquake in a Fishbowl" ($17).
It's one of the dessert creations by Pichet Ong at the newly opened Sugar and Plumm on the Upper West Side. It's a dessert made for sharing, best between 3-4 friends. It comes in an actual fishbowl, which is all part of the fun. Let's start on the left. That's a slice of Brooklyn Blackout Cake (which you can also order individually by the slice), a generous ladle of Butterscotch Pudding, followed by a wedge of Heaven/Hell Cake. The Heaven is made of angel food cake and the Hell is the darkest chocolate ganache. There's a slice of Key Lime Pie closest to your keyboard, and that comes with oodles of fresh whipped cream. But wait! We are not done yet. Of course you need ice cream to accompany all these cakes and pies. And that's why there is a serving each of salted caramel, chocolate and vanilla in the center. Sugar Rush for sure, don't say I didn't warn you.
