Sugar Rush: The Cafe Cluny Ice Cream Cart

The Cafe Cluny Ice Cream Cart is back for the season, parked right in front of the restaurant on the corner of West 12th and West 4th Streets. I haven't spotted the glorious banana-nilla wafer ice cream yet this year, but keep your fingers crossed. Till then, they have a plain banana ice cream, which they do an excellent job with. It's pure banana in flavor, creamy and accented with vanilla. You're only supposed to get one flavor per scoop ($4), but if you ask nicely (and if the line isn't too long), they might let you mix two flavors. And if they do...go for the pistachio! It's folded with toasted and chopped pistachio nuts, making the buttery ice cream even more intense.
