Sugar Rush: Pecan Bread Pudding at Bobwhite Lunch & Supper Counter

Bobwhite Lunch & Supper Counter is well worth the trek to Avenue C for a fried chicken fix. While you're there, don't pass on the Pecan Bread Pudding ($4) for dessert. Order the pudding to go and they pack it with a side of fresh whipped cream and housemade caramel sauce. Warm the pudding up and pour on the silky caramel. Let it soak into every pocket, each bite studded with toasted pecans. Alternate with spoonfuls of whipped cream and I think you'll agree that this among one of the best simple bread puddings in town. There's a banana pudding on the menu as well, but skip it—it's a loose, soupy mess. Stick with bread pudding and you'll leave very happy.
